Ivyverse

Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 2, 2026

Ivyverse is a language learning app made by Yslim Fiuza ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Ivyverse, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, write to us at ivyverseapp@gmail.com.

Before you sign up

When you first open Ivyverse, the app creates a temporary account without an email, so your choices and your chat with Ivy can be saved. When you save your progress with your email, it becomes your account.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address and a password. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and is never stored by us in plain text.
  • Profile: your display name, a username (made from your name, and you can change it), and, if you choose, a profile photo.
  • Learning choices: the language you speak, the language you are learning, your daily goal, and the look you pick for the app (Classic or Nova).

Information created as you learn

  • Progress: XP, level, where you are on the learning path in each course, streaks, days learning, diamonds, streak shields, and the words and sentences saved for review.
  • Friends features: friends you add, friend requests you send or receive, Shared Streaks, Hello nudges you send or receive, and your place on the weekly leaderboard.
  • Crash reports: if the app stops working, a short technical report is saved: the error message, your phone type and system version, the app version, and your account ID. We use it only to find and fix problems.
  • Translate: when you use Translate, the app records your voice only while you hold the speak button, or uses the text you type. The recording or text is sent to our translation providers to turn speech into text and translate it. The translation is read aloud in Ivy's voice. We do not save your recordings, what you said, or the translations. We only keep a count of how many translations you made each day, to apply the daily limit.
  • Chat with Ivy: when you chat with Ivy, the app uses your microphone during the conversation, so Ivy can hear you and reply. We save a written transcript of the chat and the starting level it suggests (for example Beginner or Intermediate), so your lessons fit you. We do not save the audio ourselves. We also keep a count of your chats with Ivy each day, to apply the daily limit.
  • Explanations: if you ask Ivy to explain an answer, the question and your answer are sent to our AI provider to write the explanation.
  • Bring your streak: if you choose to bring your streak from another app, the screenshot you pick is sent to our AI provider to read the number of days. We do not keep the screenshot, only the number of days and the name of the app.
  • Notifications: if you allow notifications, we save your phone's notification address on your account, so a friend's Hello can reach you. It is removed when you log out.

What we do not collect

  • We do not collect your location, contacts, or payment details.
  • We do not save your voice recordings. The app uses the microphone only in Translate, while you hold the speak button, and during your chat with Ivy.
  • We do not use advertising or tracking tools, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use it

  • To create your account and let you sign in, including sending you one-time codes by email to confirm your account or reset your password.
  • To save your progress and keep it in sync if you change or reinstall your phone.
  • To run the friends features: showing your name, photo, streak and weekly XP to the friends you have added.
  • To run Translate: turning what you say or type into text and translating it into the other language.
  • To get to know your level through your chat with Ivy, and adapt your lessons to it.
  • To send you daily reminders and your friends' Hello notifications.
  • To keep the app working, fix problems and improve the lessons.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

  • Supabase, our hosting provider, stores your account, profile, progress and crash reports, and handles sign-in for us.
  • Resend, our email provider, sends the emails with your sign-up and password codes.
  • ElevenLabs powers Ivy's voice. It receives your voice in your chat with Ivy and in Translate, to understand what you say, and it creates Ivy's spoken replies and the translations read aloud.
  • Anthropic, our AI provider, receives the written transcript of your chat with Ivy to suggest your starting level, the screenshot if you bring your streak, and the question when you ask for an explanation.
  • DeepL receives the text from Translate to translate it.
  • Expo and Apple deliver push notifications, such as a friend's Hello, to your phone.
  • Other learners can find you by your name or username, and see your name, username and photo, so they can send you a friend request. Your streak, progress and email stay private, and only your friends see your streak and weekly score.
  • When the law requires it, for example to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the safety of our users.

These providers handle your information to provide their service to us, under their own privacy policies.

Information stored on your phone

Some information is kept only on your device: a copy of your progress so the app works quickly and offline, your app settings, and daily reminder notifications, which are scheduled on your phone. When you log out, the progress saved on that phone is removed, so the next person who signs in on it starts with their own account.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app: go to Profile and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, profile, photo, progress, friends and streaks. You can also email us from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days.

You can also ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, by emailing ivyverseapp@gmail.com.

Children

Ivyverse is meant for people 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Your information travels over encrypted connections, and our database is set up so each person can only read and change their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information and will let you know if something happens that affects you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Brazil or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your information, and to object to how we use it. Email us and we will help, wherever you are.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, let you know in the app before they take effect.
